Nothing to report: it's so cold that only the most rabid of rabid sheepdogging maniacs could seriously think about working. (Tonight, for instance, the helpful weather.com informs us that it "feels like" -5. Thanks, pal!) Fun days are constantly being scheduled and then unscheduled due to the weather, and I'm starting to despair. It's really too bad, because I think Phyl is working nicely for me right now. I'm hoping it'll soon get warm enough so I'm not afraid that my whistle will stick to my tongue!

Well, winter got us: we never *did* get to Jeff Hoffman's trial, because we had a lot of ice in New Jersey and I was afraid that the situation down there wouldn't be much better. So it goes--it's better to skip a trial than to risk one's dogs safety, even if I *was* disappointed about not getting to try some real commercial sheep. If we don't get slammed by the weather again, Phyl and I will make a trek to Carol Campion's place in Connecticut for a one-day fun trial: I haven't been in a trial since Old Chatham, and I'm eager to get my sea legs back again. I'll report in afterward and write about the good, the bad, and the ugly!
