In which we resume a "normal" existence

All the puppies (including mine) have moved on to their new homes--they were seven weeks old yesterday, and it's clearly time for them to start experiencing life as individuals. Yesterday was fire-sale day: all the pups were dispersed efficiently. Here's how it all shook down:

  • Summer went to Sherry Smith in Church Hill, Maryland. Her name will be Nickie.
  • Sparky went to Eileen Stein in Shady Side, Maryland. His name will be Salt.
  • Liberty went to Amanda Milliken in Kingston, Ontario. Her name will be Fever.
  • Belle went to me! Her name will be Joss, and I'm sure everyone will be hearing far more about her than is strictly necessary or appropriate! :-)
I'm very pleased with all the homes: all pups will be trained as working dogs by people who have trained dogs before (except for me, of course!), so I should have some sense of what the breeding produced. Sally raised wonderful, outgoing pups for me: I'm almost afraid to take over Joss's care, because all I can do is mess up what she's started. But hopefully Joss will be resilient enough to cover up my inevitable mistakes!
